Helping schools offer the best in machining

SCHAUMBURG, IL (December 2015) — Acu-Rite Solutions, a brand of HEIDENHAIN, has renewed its initiative to bring students interested in the precision metalworking field the newest and best technology available today. To do so, Acu-Rite Solutions is partnering with local distributors to provide its MILLPWRG2 CNC controllers and DRO packages at deep discounts to all schools with precision metalworking and vocational programs. This new Acu-Rite Solutions equipment, when added to new or existing manual machines, will allow educators to instruct their students in all aspects of turning and milling machine cycles (taper calculations, hole patterns, pocket & inclined milling), probing functions (DROs) and conversational CNC programming with the MILLPWRG2. The Acu-Rite Solutions MILLPWRG2 controller — when added to a manual milling machine — allows it to be controlled as a 2- or 3-axis CNC. The Acu-Rite Solutions linear encoders and DROs can be added to lathes, mills, grinders, CMMs, optical comparators, etc. to precisely measure their movements and display that information in a clear and easy-to-read digital display. The only requirement to receive the discount is that the school’s local distributor must present a copy of the institution’s P.O. to HEIDENHAIN at the time of order. Acu-Rite Solutions is a brand of products offered by DR. JOHANNES HEIDENHAIN GmbH, a leading international manufacturer of precision measurement and control equipment based in Traunreut, Germany. The Acu-Rite Solutions digital readouts and MILLPWR controls are manufactured in Jamestown, NY, and distributed by HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION, the North American subsidiary in Schaumburg, IL. MILLPWRG2 control now offers more to milling

SCHAUMBURG, IL (July 2015) The Acu-Rite Solutions MILLPWRG2 control is today’s easiest-to-operate CNC for vertical knee and bed mills and is now available with an optional AMIG2 console offering users the ability to use common interfaces as well as control its host machine tool’s spindle. This compact AMIG2 electrical cabinet is now available in two configurations: The AMIG2 Standard has I/O that can be used for various purposes. For example: Machine guards, Limit switches, Automatic oiler, AMI Program Step. The AMI Program Step allows the programmer to specify the outputs to be turned ON or OFF, or PULSED for a certain duration. This can be used to control external devices such as an indexer. The AMIG2 Standard can also be used with an inverter-controlled spindle. The spindle control console is required for inverter-controlled spindle. The console provides the standard + 10 Vdc and a spindle override knob. The AMIG2 Deluxe includes everything in the Standard configuration plus the ability to control spindle and coolant pump using M-Functions for controlling direction (forward or reverse) and turning the spindle off. The Acu-Rite Solutions MILLPWRG2 control is equipped with full 3-D contouring capabilities and is available as a complete retrofit package for two- or three-axis knee or bed mills or on a new mill from a machine builder. It continues to provide machinists the convenience of straightforward 2-1/2-axis conversational shop floor programming as well as powerful calculators, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual calculations and to learn complicated programs. Acu-Rite Solutions maintains its operator-friendly design concept by offering a sturdy operator console on the MILLPWR G2 that features a 12.1-inch flat panel, color LCD display; a color-coded well-organized keypad; USB and remote stop/go pendant which are all standard equipment. Acu-Rite Solutions products are represented and distributed through HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION based in Schaumburg, IL. HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION is the North American subsidiary of DR. MILLPWRG2 & precision scales: The ultimate combo

SCHAUMBURG, IL (April 2014) — The easiest operating CNC control system in the industry is now equipped with full 3-D contouring capabilities. Marketed as “Powerful Easy”, Acu-Rite Solutions has advanced the MILLPWRG2 2- and 3-axes control/3-axes readout system to combine the latest technology with the finest qualities in traditional machining. Acu-Rite Solutions maintains its superiority by continuing to combine every MILLPWRG2 system with Acu-Rite Solutions precision glass scales for unmatched accuracy and reliability. An inherently durable material, Acu-Rite Solutions precision glass scales resist changes in size, shape or density due to temperature and humidity variations. Their stability ensures an accuracy as fine as 1.5um (.00006″), earning them an industry-wide reputation for excellence in measurement and precise positioning technology. The accuracy of Acu-Rite Solutions precision glass scales is essential to the precise control of the MILLPWRG2 system. Built on the strength of its former design, the MILLPWRG2 control continues to provide machinists the convenience of straightforward 2-1/2 axis conversational shop-floor programming, eliminating time-consuming calculations and the need to learn complicated programs. In addition to this, MILLPWRG2 has the ability to run G-code files from CAD/CAM programs, giving users the capability of full 3-D contouring. Consequently, MILLPWRG2 is even easier to use and maximizes productivity for machinists of all levels, from the less experienced operator, to the most seasoned veteran. MILLPWRG2‘s numerous capabilities put many valuable functions at the tip of the operator’s finger. MILLPWRG2 conversational shop floor programming makes it “powerful easy” to create and store multi-step part programs that include custom pockets, contours, chamfers, hole patterns, engraving, and other specialized features within a few short steps. After a program is created, it can be saved on MILLPWRG2 internal flash memory, a PC (using Ethernet), or on a USB stick, and reloaded later for future orders. If an order is accompanied with a DXF file, MILLPWRG2 will translate the part geometry into an operator-friendly program. MILLPWRG2 also has the ability to merge programs and edit, rearrange and delete multiple program steps at one time, quickly and easily. The newly enhanced MILLPWRG2 is more valuable then ever, increasing [...]

NEW performance-driven digital readout line

SCHAUMBURG, IL (March 2018) – HEIDENHAIN’s Acu-Rite Solutions brand is again leading the way in new digital readout (DRO) products for the machine tool marketplace. Available now, a new line of three innovative DROs with exciting new software features and robust hardware is making a difference for milling, turning, grinding and boring applications, resulting in the most complete line in the industry. Acu-Rite Solutions models DRO100/203/300 all support many new innovative software features, including an “Installation Guide” that appears at first-time power up that all DRO users will appreciate. Another exciting new feature is “Dynamic Zoom”, where once activated, the display values for the axis currently being moved are maximally enlarged. The user can immediately see which axis is currently in motion and can also easily read the numerical value from a greater distance. Other new software features common to all include: File management Users can save and/or load firmware, configuration files, graphic files and instruction manuals. User management In the DRO203/300, a simple user management system has been introduced in order to make it easier for multiple users to operate the unit. Up to nine users can store their personal settings with a user number and then call them at will. It is not necessary to enter a password. The machine setter can reset all the users. Day and night switchover The main screen can be switched to a brighter or a darker background depending on the lighting conditions at the machine. Highlighted display As a simple means of graphically highlighting the axis currently in motion, the display value of the axes not being moved can be dimmed. On the hardware side, a 7-inch TFT color display that significantly optimizes the readability (brightness, color, resolution, and the viewing angle) of the information displayed is now being used. And each readout is housed with a robust powder-coated, die-cast aluminum housing. The DRO100 uses a membrane keyboard. The mid-range DRO203 and high-end DRO300 provide a rubber keypad. Encoders with a TTL interface (differential and single-ended) can be connected via a 9-pin D-sub connector. The power supply is built-in. All the new [...]
